Corel PDF Fusion provides a clean, straightforward interface. However, this convert PDF software focuses on combining PDFs rather than PDF creation. As such, there are easy-to-use tools to manipulate files to create a single, professional PDF, but not many that let you add to existing documents.
Like its name implies, PDF Fusion lets you convert and combine multiple files to make a single document. When you drag and drop files into the Assembly View, it displays them on a single screen in page format. It's easy, then, to grab and rearrange entire documents into a single source document. You can also snag pages within one document to add to another.
This PDF conversion software has limited editing and manipulation features compared to other software we reviewed, but it does have the basics. You can edit existing text to a small degree; however, it does not have OCR recognition, so a scanned document is treated as an image. Its text cannot be edited. You can manipulate pages, including orientation, and add comments or watermarks. You can add images and hyperlinks, but you cannot create forms. This software doesn't have freehand or measuring tools, nor can it do Bates numbering, which is important for legal documents.
Once your document is complete, you can convert it to a Word document, image file or HTML. This software can optimize the PDF for posting to the web as well as for archiving in PDF/A format. You can email your document as a PDF file or as an XPS file from directly within the application.
PDF Fusion has two other views: page view and flip view. Flip view is supposed to make it more natural to read by allowing pages to move horizontally across your screen. This feature works on touch devices as well. However, rather than a clean "flip" to the next page, the scroll literally scrolls, pages moving centimeter by centimeter from right to left until you tell it to stop.
The application has a very clean and uncluttered design, making the tools and features easy to find and use. The support functions for this software and company are efficient. The program has a user guide that is searchable, and the website offers other support options, plus it offers wizards in the program to help you work through different tools. The customer service representatives on live chat take their time to answer your questions. Corel also offers dedicated, priority customer service for an additional fee.
